"We have slick roads out there!"
Good Morning, As we are preparing to say goodbye to November and hello to the rest of winter, We would like to remind everyone that roads are getting slick quick. Please make sure that you outfit your vehicle with the proper tires to combat the ice. Even if you can't see it, that doesn't mean that its not there. Slow down during cold or snowy weather to prevent yourself from getting into an accident. Thank you!
SANTA RUN!!!
Santa is coming to town yet again! The annaul 'Santa Run' will be hosted this year on December 14th. Santa will be hopping on the ambulance and hitching a ride with the LFD and we cannot wait to become his elves this year! Technical Difficulties, Please Standby...

An Extended Partnership...
Starting August 1st, a new contract went into effect with Northern Light Medical Transport for 24hr coverage in the town. There will be a Northern Light Employee at the station everyday/all day, Unless a driver has not been provided. This brings up a few questions to some of you, let me answer them.
Q: Will the station be open 24hrs?
A: No, our hours will continue to be open to public from 8am - 6pm.
Q: Are we covering any other towns?
A: Yes, As of the 1st of August, The Levant ambulance is now 1st due to the towns of Levant, Kenduskeag and Glenburn. With the addition of Glenburn, We have increased our call volume making the ambulance very busy. Our partnership with Northern Light Medical Transport is stronger than ever.
Happy Independence Day!
Who doesn't love the 4th of July? Parades, barbecues, and outdoor activities! And fireworks are always fun! But here at Levant Fire, we want to encourage the responsible and safe use of fireworks. We would like to ask you to please read the directions and follow the diagrams shown to ensure a safe practice. No one wants to get injured during the party and have to go to the hospital. Also, lots of towns have passed ordinances on the prohibition of fireworks in their towns. Please take the time to research and see if you are able to use certain fireworks. We at the 44 House wish a happy and fun Independence Day to everyone.
Place of Honor at the Dinnertable!
At yesterday's training, we celebrated a life that was taken from us suddenly last year. Alan Merchant, A firefighter, leader, mentor and friend was honored with a feast that Alan would cook for everyone. Breakfast! Alan was best known for this. You can hear stories about how Alan would get to the station at the crack of dawn and begin cooking his egnormous breakfast. Firefighters would get up with Alan and cook with him; helping him with the eggs, bacon and sausage. But Alan would always cook his homefries. He always cooked his homefries. We bonded best this way. Having a morning conversation with each other while eating breakfast and drinking coffee. As we understand Alan could no longer be with us, we will always remember how this brought the entire fire family together!
Rest in Peace, Brother Merchant!
Multiple Fires... Multiple Departments...
If you noticed Levant trucks driving all over the county today...you were not crazy and it wasn't a parade we were taking part in. Units 444, 442 and Ambulance 449, with crews responded to Corinth to assist at a building fire, providing station coverage. Shortly after standing by, our crews were dispatched to Etna to assist there at another building fire. No injuries at either incident, strong work by many mutual aid departments working well together today.
Strong work to the crews that fought these fires!

That time of the year again...
Springtime! The time of the year that the snow melts, animals stop hibernating, and clocks move forward again. Wait a minute? Clock change. OH! That means it's time to check your smoke detectors again.
We at Levant Fire would like to send this friendly reminder to everyone to check your smoke detectors and replace the batteries after every time change! Feel free to press that 'TEST' Button while you are at it!
If you are in need of a detector, feel free to contact the station and stop by. We have a few left and are happy to go over 'how-to-install' and where good placement in a home would be.
